Cargo types
Adding, renaming and deactivating the cargo types a rate card can carry.
Settings → Cargo Types (/operations/settings/cargo-types). The list a rate card’s Cargo Types picker offers: General (Dry), Chilled, Frozen, Dangerous Goods, and any you add.
| Column | |
|---|---|
| Code | Short, permanent identifier, e.g. DRY. Set when the type is added and never changes. |
| Name | What staff see in the rate card picker. Safe to rename at any time. |
| Rate cards | How many rate cards carry this type. |
| Active | Whether the rate card picker offers it. |
Add cargo type takes a code (capital letters, digits or _, up to 20) and a name. Codes and names must be unique.
Edit a name in place, or flip Active, then Save on that row.
Deactivate, never delete
Section titled “Deactivate, never delete”There is no delete. A rate card refers to its cargo types by id, and removing a type would silently remove it from every card that carries it. Deactivate it instead:
- the rate card picker stops offering it to new cards;
- a card that already has it keeps it, shown as (inactive);
- you can reactivate it at any time.
Show inactive lists deactivated types again so they can be renamed or reactivated.
General (Dry) can’t be deactivated. It’s what a new rate card gets when no cargo type is picked.
Cargo types are recorded on rate cards only. Bookings and quotes don’t store a cargo type, and pricing doesn’t depend on it. See Rate cards.
