Compliance checks
Create a check, write its questions, set when it comes due and what skipping it costs, then publish it.
Compliance → Checks (/operations/compliance/checks) lists every check: its name and code, what it Applies to, the Live version and any Draft.
Versions: live and draft
Section titled “Versions: live and draft”A check has numbered versions. The live version is what drivers are asked. A published version can never be edited. Submissions point at it, and an auditor is entitled to the questions exactly as the driver saw them. To change a check, you edit a new draft and publish that.
- No draft yet: click the pencil to start one from the live version.
- A draft exists: click Continue draft.
- Click a version badge (for example v2) to open it. A published one opens read-only, with a padlock notice.
Create a new check
Section titled “Create a new check”- Click New check.
- Code, for example
DRIVER-FFD. It names the check in overrides and cannot change later. - Name, for example Fitness for Duty.
- Applies to, meaning what the check is about:
- driver: the person.
- vehicle: a unit. A vehicle check is meaningless without a unit.
- combination: a driver and a unit together.
- worker: a staff member on the staff app, not a driver.
- Optional Description, then Create draft. The builder opens.
Build the questions
Section titled “Build the questions”The builder has three panes.
-
Add a question (left): one button per answer type: boolean, rating, single select, multi select, number, text, date, photo, signature.
-
Questions (middle): click Section to add a section first, since questions live inside one. A new question goes into the last section. You are asked for a short code and the wording the driver sees. Reorder questions with the ⠿ handle or the up/down arrows.
-
Question tab (right): select a question to edit its Prompt and Help text and to set:
- Required
- Critical: one wrong answer fails the whole check.
- Demand a reason when it fails
- Demand a photo when it fails
- Capture an expiry date
Click Save, or Delete to remove the question from the draft.
Set the rules
Section titled “Set the rules”The Rules tab says when the check is due and what skipping it costs. Each rule reads as a sentence:
- Require this: the moment that makes it due (when the shift starts, before starting a run, before each stop, when a vehicle is assigned, at a changeover, on a schedule, and so on). Then how often: once per shift, once per calendar day, once per run, once per vehicle, weekly, monthly, quarterly, every n hours, days or kilometres, or once and never again.
- If it is not done: stop the work, warn the driver, or just record it.
- Grace: minutes allowed before it counts as overdue.
Click Add a rule for more than one. Whichever comes first makes the check due. Click Save rules when you are done.
The top of the tab shows who the check applies to. This screen cannot change that yet.
Publish
Section titled “Publish”Click Publish and confirm. The draft becomes the live check and is locked. Earlier submissions keep the version they were answered against.
Onyx refuses to publish a version with no questions, because it would always pass. It also refuses one with no rule, because nothing would ever make it due.
Retire a check
Section titled “Retire a check”Click Retire to stop using a check. It stays on the list marked Retired, and Restore brings it back.
